Get ready to reel in the excitement as the Who Cares Fishing Tournament returns to Turtle Cove! This legendary event, which started in 1989, is not just a fishing competition; it's a celebration of friendship, community, and the simple joy of being on the water.


Event Details:


  • Registration: Mark your calendars for Friday, February 2nd, at 4 pm, as Scooter Bobs hosts the tournament registration. The registration fee is $250 per boat (maximum 5 people), with an additional $50 per extra person. Can't make it in person? No worries – you can also sign up by emailing Whocaresfishing469@gmail.com.

  • Tournament Date: The tournament kicks off on Saturday, February 3rd, with boats setting sail at sunrise and returning to Turtle Cove Marina by 3 pm.

  • Post-Tournament Celebration: The party starts immediately at the Crusty Crab, featuring delicious food, refreshing drinks, a DJ, and the eagerly awaited prize ceremony.


The Who Cares Fishing Tournament has stood the test of time, maintaining its essence since its inception in 1989. Started by a group of locals and expats who sought a more down-to-earth fishing experience, the tournament has remained true to its roots, with minimal rules and a focus on good times over extravagance.


Every tournament has its remarkable moments, and this year aims to create even more. The emphasis is not just on the biggest catches but on the camaraderie shared by lifelong friends and fellow fishermen. The tournament pays tribute to the late Barr Stubbs, a dear friend and the Barracuda king.


Categories and Prizes: The tournament keeps it simple with three categories: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd biggest fish (Tuna, Wahoo, and Mahi Mahi), along with the Biggest Barracuda category dedicated to Barr Stubbs, the Barracuda king. Generous sponsors such as HAB Group, CBMS, and Ward Construction provide substantial cash prizes, with the world-famous toilet bowl trophy going to the biggest fish.
